Do you like playing games?

What we mean by “playing games“ in this context is for example “power play“ within a team, or to have personal goals that may differ (and usually do) from the project goals. Another example are “carreer games” where (almost) all of the involved pursue their own goals to take a hold or advance in their business career. Also whom we give recognition and praise and whom we deny it is a sort of game playing, in this sense.
Of course one could go on and on with examples, but it should be clear about what kind of games we are talking here.

Especially as project leader, team leader, or consultant it is important to be aware of these games. Only then you have a chance to reduce the destructive influence these games can have on your project success.
